Hello everyone,
For homework, I would like you to do two things:
First, prepare to give a two minute update about the progress of your i-search.
Second, use the sentence leveling technique to label ALL of the sentences in your i-search.
Bring the following to class on Tuesday:
* A clean (unmarked) copy of your i-search paper (we'll use this for peer review)
* The sentenced-leveled copy of your i-search

Homework due Tuesday, 8 April
For Tuesday, chose one part of your I-search paper that you are unsure about. Take all of the pieces of information you have about this part and write a TEST PAGE.
Test page checklist:
It has paragraphs.
Each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and support sentences.
It is one typed page.
This is a good chance to find out where you are in the i-search process. We will use the test pages to peer review your work. This is why I suggest choosing a section of your i-search that you are unsure about. You will get more useful feedback that way.
Remember, this is a LETTER GRADED assignment.
Enjoy your weekend, everyone.

Homework due 3 April
I had fun today, and look forward to Laura's visit. I think we prepared well. If you think of other questions for Laura, write them down and bring them to class on Thursday.
For homework, I want you to think about one person you will interview for YOUR i-search paper. Please answer the following questions:
Who is this person, and why do you need to interview this person?
What are your goals for the interview? Complete this sentence: I want to learn...
I would also like you to:
Write an email asking for the interview.
Write interview questions.
Remember that all of the work you do for homework could be put in your i-search paper, so think hard about these questions and tasks.

Homework due 1 April
Here is where we are in the i-search project. At this point, you should have:
* a topic with a clear focus
* a search plan
* secondary sources
* an idea about who (specifically) you want to interview.
If you do not have these things, THEN YOU ARE BEHIND. You should use this weekend to catch up. If you did not do so, complete your i-search plan and the graded homework related to summarizing two of your secondary sources (newspaper, journal, magazine articles, a film, radio show, novel, biography, etc). You will not receive a grade for these late assignments, but I will review them and give you feedback.
Did you turn in all of these assignments? Great! Keep working on your search.

Homework due Thursday, 27 March
Finish reading the article which I gave you in class. Finish reading the article and write a one paragraph summary of the (entire) article. There will be a quiz on this article on Thursday, so read it for understanding!
Finish the homework which was due today (Tuesday, 25 March). You will not receive a grade for this homework, but I will give you feed back if you complete it. It is also something you need to do for your i-search.

Homework due Tuesday, 25 March
You have the option of revising your I-search plan for a higher grade based on the feedback I and your classmates gave you. This revision is due on 25 March.
Continue your I-search:
• Find, read, and understand two print sources related to your I-search.
• How do you plan to use each source in your I-search?
• Write a summary of each source.
• Paraphrase an important part of each source.
Bring a copy of your two sources to class on Tuesday. We’ll work on quotations.

Homework due Thursday, 13 March
Review your summary handout. Follow the steps and write a summary of the paragraph from "The Captive Wolf."
Finish your research plan. NO LISTS! You should write this out in complete sentences. Start to tell your story.
Begin searching for sources for your I-search. Google Scholar is a good place to start:
http://scholar.google.com/
There are a lot of articles, so it's sometimes best to sort them by date (click the recent articles button).
